FILM BY DESIGNER
With Alexandra Midal
A Workshop, Screening and Seminar

Not so long ago, experimental cinema was only a visual artists practice. Yet there is an experimental film by designers. Such a practice is expanding everywhere because through story-telling, fiction and poetry, films by designer are the new manifesto.

In the FILM BY DESIGNER workshop, students investigate the intersection of film and design. In creating a stimulating laboratory for innovative production, the filmic revolution is considered as a new and relevant marker for designers and design practice. During this workshop developed in Geneva and Los Angeles, capital of the cinema industry, 5 teams of M1 design students find their individual and critical expression. The project include an experimental film as well as a poster. The final presentation takes place in a movie theater. Then each film takes part of the 2nd International Invisible Film Program, that took place in the Istanbul Design Biennal (2018) at Museum Galata Beyoglu.
