ARCHITECTS AT PLAY
With Tristan Kobler HKA, Arno Mathies
Professional Practice Project

From R. Buckminster Fuller’s drawings to the singular works of Aldo Rossi and the experiments of Charles and Ray Eames, visitors are invited to discover that human beings are playful architects. From the solitary hut to the cosmopolitan ark, we build worlds we co-inhabit through play. Play opens a mysterious space between our subjectivities and reality—one where it becomes possible both to grasp the world and to be grasped by it.

“Architects at Play” is the culmination of research on play and architectural imagination, built experiences, and mythological narratives. The exhibition stages an encounter between two figures—the architect and the child—and explores a series of worlds imagined through their games. These worlds, and the inventive mechanisms they summon, form the core of the curatorial framework, where the playgrounds of childhood and those of architects, artists, and designers collide to offer an experience of wonder and engagement with the world.

“Architects at Play” is an exhibition by CIVA (Brussels), reimagined for Geneva by the Pavillon Sicli Foundation in partnership with the Master’s in Space and Communication at HEAD – Genève.
